Wil scratched the back of his head and stared at Echo. He wasn't quite sure how he got it to work the first time...
"Um, okay, well... let's see..."
He grabbed Echo and pulled out the gear. The little droid went quiet and his eyes stopped glowing.
"Sorry, Little Guy. Now--"
He put the gear onto the ground and looked at Elise. "Maybe if we all do whatever it was that we did to get here in the first place..." He trailed off, trying to remember every exact gesture.
"Hmmm..." He reached down and picked up the gear, holding it up to examine it. Then he turned.
"Echo, I think we may have just found you a--" he paused. Nothing. He shook the thing. Nothing. He rubbed it like a magic lamp or something. Still nothing. He sighed with disappointment.
He returned the gear to Echo. Echo's eyes lit up once more. "Well, I guess it was worth a try..."
Then Echo's entire body began to glow. William leaned forward and poked the droid suspiciously. "Echo?"
Suddenly the two of them disappeared in the same blinding light that had taken Noah, leaving Gate and Elise alone in the dark.

"Hey I know!" Gate exclaims as she starts running forward, and trips on a root. Standing up quickly, she dusts herself off and loses her balance, falling backwards. "Ow ow ow...why didn't that work? That's exactly what I did last time and then I was teleported..." Standing, she looks at Elise, "So...what does your spoon do then?"

"I don't kno-" Elise felt the spoon get warm in her hand, as though the heat was being produced from within. "Quick! Grab my hand!" It was kind of redundant, because Elise grabbed Gate's arm anyway. There was a flash, and the forest disappeared.
Being "transported" only took a few seconds, but this time Elise was aware it was going to happen (sort of), and took note of the strange sensation. It was like being blinded. She also felt like her brain was being soaked in a pot of boiling information. A million stimuli made her synapses burn with extensive use. No wonder Gate fell over; receiving this much information at a time would disorient anyone.
Perhaps they were traveling across time. Or space. Then all of those places and times they were passing through instantaneously had informational residue that was sifting (at intense speeds) through their minds, causing this abundance of stimuli. It was a theory, anyway.
The important thing was that Elise and Gate left the forest as well. If only she could figure out how to get the spoon to work.
