Gate: An Explanation on Sun Aug 24, 2008 2:09 pm
Gate
Race- Steamborne
Gate is a Steamborne, which can be most closely compared to an android, as they can appear to be completely human. Normally, depending on their position in Steamborne society, they will be required to augment their body appropriately to better execute their assigned job.
Occupation- Combat Gear
Gate is a Combat Gear, meaning she is part of the main line of defense for the Steamborne. As such, she has had to replace her forearms with large robotic gauntlets. She also wears an armored chestplate and shouldguards, though her lower half is lacking as she sports a pair of large knee high combat boots...and a skirt. As for her armaments, she has a Ripper (chain saw sword) and a combat shield, as well as a mid-ranged crossbow.
Physical Features-
Gender: Female
Age: 4
Hair Color: Blond
Eye Color: Red
Skin Color: Fair
Height: 5' (w/o boots, 5' 3" with them)
Weight: approximately 200 lbs
Build: Light athletic, minimal muscle build
Personality-
Gate is rather bubbly all around, not hesitating to be friendly and willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. A presumably poor choice for a Combat Gear, though she has no problem dispatching someone if she thinks they are harming another unjustly. Given the right situation, she may prove to be more than she appears...
Background-
For the most part, Gate shares a similar background as many of her Steamborne brethren. She was created and placed in a learning facility as all the others, after which they were assigned tasks that they would execute for the rest of their days. Though they are mechanical beings, Steamborne are unique in that they believe manufacturing malfunctions and program irregularities are what makes each of them unique, a personality if you will. They believe that these are things one was destined to have and should not be "fixed". Because of this, their society runs in a fashion similar to Humans, for better and worse.
After her time at the learning facility was complete, she was placed in the military academy and assigned with the title of Combat Gear. To the others around her, this was an odd decision due to her gentle nature. However, she exhibited certain characteristics that would allow her to properly discern right and wrong in many situations. Additionally, she had a program defect pertaining to her power drive that actually removed the implemented limiters when her system was under considerable stress.
She was recently posted on the western continent to assist in keeping the Voullne there under control as they had recently begun to act erratic and attack the various trading posts found along the coast.
Overdrive Form-
Nothing is known about this function as of yet. Will update in the future once more information becomes available.

Other Useful Information
Vanter-
Vanter is the world that Gate is originally from. This is a horribly undetailed picture, but gets the idea across...kinda:

Vanter is actually Earth, hundreds of years in the future, much after the original humans had died. Through some unforeseen chain of events, beings called Arcaums cam to be, resurrecting civilization from the ashes of the End of Times. Gate comes from a point in Vanterian history where the Arcaums have begun losing their power to a group of humans known as the Immortals.
Voullne-
The Voullne are large, humanoid wolves(werewolves) who live in various locations on Vanter. They can be roughly broken down into three sub-groups:
Voullne Dredge-
The Dredge can be found on the center continent of Loreth. These are the most primitive of the Voullne, resembling animals more than beings of actual consequence. Abiding by these most primal instincts, they often run in small packs and choose largely to feed above anything else, even going so far as to devour their own if one of them is unfortunate enough to become injured or sick. They can be spotted easily as they appear to be large, awkward wolves, often with ragged fur and a vicious demeanor.
Voullne Talus-
These are the Voullne that Gate mentions. Though the Talus are clearly primal in nature, they exhibit a defined social structure, as well as the development of permanent residence in a certain area. They have begun experimenting in primitive magic, closely resembling voodoo, shamanistics and witch doctory. They have also managed deity worship and demon summoning, giving their allegiance to the gods of Blood, Fire, War and Darkness. They have a very distinct look about them, standing uprightly (about 7'), though sometimes hunched, with muscular builds as well as large tusks and longer hair on their heads than the rest of their body.
Voullne Silfen-
The Silfen are a rarity on Vanter, as they choose to dwell on Ertia(the lower, eastern continent), which almost entirely consists of desert. The few that have been seen and even interacted with have proven to be very intelligent, far more than most humans, though not much is really known about them. If you ever do see one, they will be easy to recognize as they stand nearly ten feet tall and have a resemblance to desert jackals.
EDIT: Just thought I would clean this up a bit since it's now in the right section. Hopefully I'll be able to at least get some rough sketches up soon and I plan on updating this as needed.
EDIT: Updated info on Vanter some.
